Biography

Chuck Zhang is the Eugene C. Gwaltney, Jr. Chair Professor at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also an affiliated faculty member of the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute and serves as the Director of the NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center on Composite Hybrid Materials Interfacing. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, he was a Professor and Chair in the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering at Florida A&M University-Florida State University, and Deputy Director of the High-Performance Materials Institute at Florida State University. Zhang holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa and has conducted significant research in advanced manufacturing, including composite structures and additive manufacturing, as well as manufacturing cybersecurity. He has led numerous research projects funded by federal agencies and has published over 210 refereed journal articles, holding 27 U.S. patents. He serves as an editor for top journals in his field and has received multiple research and teaching awards throughout his career.
