Biography

Chukwuebuka Nweke is an Assistant Professor in the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering. He earned his B.S. degree from the University of California, Davis, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining USC, he served as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he held a California Alliance Postdoctoral Fellowship. Dr. Nweke's research focuses on applying data analytics, including statistical analysis and machine learning, to address challenges at the intersection of geotechnical engineering, earthquake engineering, and seismology. His research interests include modeling geo-materials, seismic natural hazards, and the mechanical behavior of bio-cemented soils. Dr. Nweke is also exploring cloud-based data management for hazard analysis and resilient infrastructure design, along with innovative data acquisition methods for hazard reconnaissance.
