Biography

Chukwuebuka C. Nweke is an Assistant Professor in the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Civil Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Davis, followed by both Master's and Doctoral degrees in the same field from the University of California, Berkeley. Before joining USC, he was a California Alliance Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he focused on data analytics related to geotechnical engineering and earthquake engineering. His research interests include modeling geo-materials and investigating seismic natural hazards at both local and regional scales. Dr. Nweke's work encompasses characterizing sedimentary basin effects on earthquake ground motions and assessing physics-based earthquake simulations. He is also involved in developing novel data acquisition methods for hazard reconnaissance and cloud-based data management for resilient infrastructure design and post-hazard assessments.
