Biography

Chun Hean Lee is a Senior Lecturer in the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow. He is a member of the Glasgow Computational Engineering Centre, specifically within the Infrastructure and Environment Research Division. He graduated with a BEng in Civil Engineering from Swansea University in 2007 and completed his PhD at the same institution in 2012. His doctoral research focused on the proof-of-concept development of a new system based on conservation laws in computational solid dynamics. Following his graduation, he joined the EU-funded 'ASTUTE' project and was appointed as a Ser Cymru Research Fellow at the Zienkiewicz Centre for Computational Engineering at Swansea University in 2015. His research interests include computational mechanics with a special emphasis on the development and application of non-conventional computational methods for large strain fast solid dynamics. He aims to establish a new computational paradigm that re-formulates physical laws and lays the foundation for unified modeling of various physics problems, including thermodynamics and fluid-structure interactions. Additionally, he is interested in developing computational methods for modeling protection systems subjected to hyper-velocity impact, addressing applications such as high strain rate material failure and spacecraft shielding.
