Biography

Dr. Kwon obtained his MD from University College London and MPH from Harvard. He completed his neurosurgery residency in the UK and followed with postdoctoral fellowships in epilepsy clinical research at the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and neurosurgery/neurophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, as well as health services research at Mount Sinai. His research specializes in epilepsy and functional neurosurgery, with interests that include outcomes research in clinical neurosciences, epidemiological health services research, clinical informatics, randomized neurosurgical trials, and neurophysiology. Dr. Kwon employs intra-operative recordings and big data to study abnormal brain function in patients with epilepsy and its psychiatric comorbidities. He uses neuromodulation techniques such as deep brain stimulation and responsive neurostimulation to explore reversible treatment methods for epilepsy.
