Cihan Halicigil is an Assistant Professor in the field of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1988, followed by a Master's in Clinical Embryology from Leeds University in 2005, and a PhD in Biology from METU in 2001. He has directed several IVF laboratories in Turkey, including the Florence Nightingale Gayrettepe IVF laboratory and Acibadem Maslak IVF Laboratory, and has trained over 40 clinical embryologists. In 2015, he moved to the USA and contributed significantly to the establishment of the Carolinas Fertility Institute program as a senior embryologist. His research interests focus on embryo culture, micromanipulation techniques, cryopreservation, preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), timelapse microscopy, and laboratory automation, including artificial intelligence applications in IVF. Halicigil has published numerous articles and frequently collaborates with other researchers in the reproductive medicine field.
