Dr. Cindy Holder

Biography

Cindy Holder is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Victoria, specializing in areas such as philosophy of law, human rights, social and political philosophy, transitional justice, international law, and history of political thought. She has previously taught at the University of Arizona and joined the University of Victoria in 2001. Holder has contributed to various publications focusing on global justice and the philosophical implications of public apologies. Her notable works include articles in journals like the C4E Journal: Perspectives on Ethics and Philosophical Studies, as well as co-editing volumes on human rights and political apologies. With a BA from McGill, an MA from Dalhousie, and a PhD from the University of Arizona, she has established a significant academic presence in philosophy. Holder's research addresses critical intersections between law, ethics, and social justice, engaging with contemporary debates and contributing to the understanding of philosophical foundations of justice in society.
