Dr. Cindy Schipani

Biography

Cindy Schipani is the Merwin H. Waterman Collegiate Professor of Business Administration at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. She received her J.D. from the University of Chicago School of Law and has held visiting appointments at law and business schools in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Professor Schipani teaches topics including business law, corporate governance, the legal aspects of entrepreneurship, business organizations, and cross-cultural negotiations in both graduate and undergraduate programs. Her research primarily focuses on corporate governance, particularly the relationship between directors, officers, shareholders, and stakeholders, as well as the pathways for women to attain positions of organizational leadership. She has published over 40 journal articles and a book, and has received numerous accolades such as the Academy of Legal Studies in Business Distinguished Career Achievement Award and the University of Michigan Outstanding Mentor Award. Additionally, she serves as an expert witness in corporate governance issues and her work has been featured in national and international media.
