Biography

Cinzia Arruzza is a professor of philosophy at Boston University, holding the Maria Stata Professorship in Classical Greek Studies. Her research focuses on Ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, particularly the works of Plato, Plotinus, Socratics, and Aristotle. She also specializes in topics such as Ancient Greek metaphysics, ethics, moral psychology, contemporary political social philosophy, feminist philosophy, and Marxist theory. Notable titles include 'Wolf City: Tyranny and the Tyrant in Plato’s Republic' (OUP, 2018), 'Plotinus: Ennead II 5' (Potentially Parmenides Press, 2015), and 'Feminism for the 99%: A Manifesto' (Verso, 2019). Currently, she is working on a book manuscript titled 'Socrates’ Women: Virtue, Soul, and Sexual Difference in the Socratic Circle' under contract with Oxford University Press.
