Dr. Claire Boyle

Biography

Claire Boyle completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Cambridge and taught at the University of Oxford before securing a permanent lectureship at the University of Stirling in 2005. She joined the University of Edinburgh in January 2008 and specializes in post-war French literature, thought, and cinema. Her teaching encompasses periods from medieval to contemporary French literature and post-war European cinema. Claire offers undergraduate courses on French language and twentieth-century French literature, as well as postgraduate supervision on topics including queer theory and French cinema within the School's MSc programs in Film Studies and Comparative Literature. Research interests include explorations of selfhood and subjectivity in twentieth-century contemporary French literature and film, particularly in relation to queer testimonies and personal narratives. She is experienced in supervising Master's and PhD students and has published extensively on various subjects in prominent academic journals.
