Dr. Claire Brown

Biography

Claire Brown is a Professor and the Director of the Advanced BioImaging Facility at McGill University. With a B.Sc. from Saint Mary's University and a Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario, she has over 25 years of experience in Molecular and Cell Biology. Her research focuses on quantitative bioimaging and employs biophysical techniques such as fluorescence microscopy to obtain quantitative data on protein distributions and dynamics. She examines the molecular mechanisms that regulate cell migration, providing insights into developmental disorders, cancer metastasis, and other diseases. As the director for 15 years, she has developed and implementing training courses on advanced light microscopy, directing the Advanced BioImaging Facility and managing the Cell Imaging Analysis Network. Her work supports a large user base across multiple laboratories in Montreal, emphasizing the importance of standardized protocols for reproducibility and quality control in quantitative bioimaging.
