Biography

Claire Fitton is a lecturer in anatomy at the University of Glasgow’s School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences (anatomy) from Cardiff University and an MSc in Forensic Anthropology, followed by a PhD in Medicine from the University of Dundee. Her academic focus includes pedagogical research in anatomy, translational clinical research, and the development of endovascular devices. Claire actively engages in research interests that encompass pedagogical anatomical research, translational clinical research, and vascular research, with a specific emphasis on student-centered anatomical education approaches. She serves as the Anatomy Lead for the Pre-clinical MBChB program and is involved in various teaching roles within the medical curriculum. Additionally, she has developed a digital anatomical resource for second-year medical students and is the deputy lead for the Clinically-Applied Anatomy course on the BSc Anatomy program. In recognition of her teaching contributions, Claire was awarded the MVLS College Teaching Excellence Award (Early Career) in June 2024.
