Dr. Claire Hunt

Biography

Claire Hunt is an Option Convenor for the Integrated Water Management Centre at Imperial College London, where she leads the MSc Environmental Technology program. She holds a BSc in Joint Honors Physics and Chemistry from the University of Nottingham and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Hertfordshire. Claire's career began as an analytical chemist in the industry, followed by several years of developing Electronic Data Interchange user software. Since completing her MSc in Environmental Technology at Imperial in 2006, her research interests have primarily focused on pollution in the marine environment, particularly the impacts of microplastics and health, as well as the effectiveness of voluntary remediation measures. Claire's research addresses critical environmental issues faced by water companies, such as taste and odor in drinking water, micropollutants in wastewater treatment, and the revised bathing waters directive. She has also worked with DEFRA to investigate knowledge gaps regarding urban diffuse water pollution and to develop integrated urban interventions that can yield multiple benefits, including pollution reduction and improved health outcomes.
