Biography

Before moving to academia, Claire Williams worked in a variety of practice settings, including orthopaedics and general surgery, after graduating from the University of New Brunswick (UNB) with her Bachelor of Nursing in 2006. She has a primary area of interest in health related to pregnancy and childbirth. Williams has worked in Neonatal Intensive Care and Paediatrics and served as a Research Coordinator in the Women's and Children's Health Programme. She has held leadership roles such as Clinical Nurse Specialist in Women and Children's Health and Nurse Manager for multiple ambulatory clinics. Currently, she is a PhD student in Nursing at Queen's University, focusing on abortion care, specifically access to medical abortion treatment in New Brunswick, Canada. Her research efforts have been supported by grants, including a Graduate Scholarship in 2023 from Queen's University.
