Biography

In 2015, Clara Bosak-Schroeder joined the Department of Classics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), where she is also an affiliate of History, Medieval Studies, and Comparative World Literature. She earned her PhD in Classical Studies from the University of Michigan and holds certificates in Greek and Roman History. She completed her BA in Classical Languages at the University of California, Berkeley. Since joining UIUC, Clara has received several fellowships including the Faculty Fellowship from the Humanities Research Institute (2017-2018) and the COVID-19 Revitalization Fellowship (2025-2026). Her research areas include classical reception studies, creative nonfiction, and environmental humanities. Clara's notable work includes her book titled 'Natures: Environmental Encounters in Ancient Greek Ethnography.' Additionally, she has contributed to various literary journals and has curated exhibits for the Krannert Art Museum and Spurlock Museum of World Cultures.
