Professor Dr. Clara Søndergaard

Biography

Clara Louise Søndergaard is a researcher at Aarhus University specializing in the intersection of transness and nature within contemporary Danish literature. Her work focuses on the meanings generated through literary texts that intertwine themes of transness and nature, especially through a historically and culturally complex lens of identity categories and prevailing notions of nature and naturalness. Søndergaard employs a theoretical framework of transecology, which is an emerging field that combines trans studies with ecocriticism. Her research interests include text theory analysis, fiction, trans literature, eco literature, and transgender studies. She is currently leading a PhD project exploring the connections between trans identity and nature in Danish contemporary literature, aiming to extract insights and generate reports that enhance the understanding of how service usage and information storage are affected by these themes.
