Biography

Clare J FitzGerald is a Senior Lecturer in the Public Administration & Management programme at King’s Business School, King’s College London. Her research focuses on public service management and organization, particularly within Western democracies where public entities enable service provision through dense cross-sectoral networks. Employing qualitative and quantitative methods, Clare examines how organizations collaboratively deliver public value, with a focus on the laws, rules, regulations, and administrative routines that constrain or enable this delivery. Her interests include contemporary governance, complex government contracting, public procurement, public policy, and performance management. Clare's work has been published in various journals, such as the International Public Management Journal and Public Management Review. She authored a book titled 'Public Contracting for Social Outcomes' available from Cambridge University Press. She serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Journal of Public Sector Management and has conducted research funded by UK Research & Innovation and the Economic and Social Research Council. Before joining King’s College, she was a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government, and she completed her PhD at North Carolina State University.
