Dr. Clare Milledge

Biography

Clare Milledge is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Art and Design at the University of New South Wales. Her artistic practice re-examines contemporary environments, focusing on ecological engagement through art. Milledge utilizes historical figures such as the artist-shaman and employs fieldwork as a primary methodology, collecting and transforming materials gathered from ecological surveys and daily experiences. Her work takes various forms, including public installations that incorporate glass paintings, textiles, poetry, and collaborative sound performances. Milledge completed her Doctor of Philosophy at the Sydney College of the Arts in 2013, having also spent part of her candidacy at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. She is actively engaged in the Norwegian contemporary art scene. Milledge’s research output is held in several notable collections, including the National Gallery Victoria and the Monash University Museum of Art.
