Biography

Clare Patterson is an Assistant Professor (Teaching Focused) in Psychology at the University of Warwick. She has a strong interest in psycholinguistics, focusing on human language processing and the processing of language in learners, particularly bilinguals. Her research centers on linking sentences in real time, known as discourse-level processing, and understanding how reference works to create and maintain discourse coherence. Prior to her current role, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Cologne and held positions as a Professorial Substitute at TU Dortmund University and a Research Fellow at the Potsdam Research Institute for Multilingualism. Clare has earned a DPhil from the University of Potsdam and holds an MA in Psycholinguistics and Neurolinguistics from the University of Essex, as well as a BA (Hons) in Linguistics and Japanese from the University of Reading.
