Biography

Clare Verrill studied medicine at the University of Southampton, qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine with Distinction in July 2001. She held various positions as a House Officer and Specialist Registrar in Histopathology before becoming a Consultant Histopathologist at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. An Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Southampton, she completed a Masters in Medical Education at the University of Dundee in November 2006 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2007. In 2011, she joined the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as Lead Uropathology. Her research focuses on pathology and digital pathology with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence. She has led significant projects including the PathLAKE initiative, aimed at digitizing pathology networks and enhancing clinical assessments using AI. She is also a member of several research and clinical studies aiming to improve the quality of care in urological pathology. As of 2023, she serves as Co-Lead of the testis Genomic Clinical Interpretation Partnership and continues to be involved in numerous innovative projects within her field.
