Biography

Clark R. Wilson, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin, has an extensive background in Earth Sciences. He earned his BA in Physics from the University of California at San Diego and both MS and PhD degrees in Earth Sciences from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He joined the faculty at UT Austin in Fall 1976 and was promoted to full professor in 1989. Throughout his career, Wilson has contributed significantly to the fields of geophysics and geodesy, pioneering research in reflection seismology, applied earthquake engineering, and the effects of Earth's gravity on climate change. He has served in leadership roles, including Chairman of the Geological Sciences Department and on various boards related to geodesy and Earth rotation services. After retiring from teaching in 2020, he continues to engage in research supported by NASA at the Center for Space Research. His work has included service as a Program Scientist for NASA in Washington, D.C., where he was involved in various international space missions. Wilson has received multiple awards and recognitions, reflecting his contributions to geology and geophysics, and remains an active figure in the academic community.
