Biography

Claude Comtois is a Professor in the Department of Geography at the Université de Montréal. He holds a degree in Political Science and a Master of Science in Geography from Université Laval, as well as a PhD from the University of Hong Kong, specializing in transportation. With over 10 years of experience as a project director at the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), he has been a guest professor at more than 15 foreign universities. His teaching and research focus primarily on transportation systems, particularly maritime transport and ports. Professor Comtois has served as a consultant in maritime policy and intermodal transportation, contributing to over 100 scientific publications and 250 papers. He has directed and participated in 40 subsidized research projects and has engaged in collaborations that transfer methodologies related to transportation systems. Professor Comtois is affiliated with the Interuniversity Research Centre on Enterprise Networks, Logistics, and Transportation (CIRRELT).
