Biography

Claudel Pétrin-Desrosiers is a family physician at the CLSC de Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and is responsible for planetary health within the Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine at the University of Montreal. She completed a master's degree in environment and sustainable development, during which she conducted an exploratory literature review on the effectiveness of nature-prescribing programs. Active for over a decade in Quebec and internationally on issues related to the environment and human health, she served as vice-president of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA) and has chaired the Quebec Association of Physicians for the Environment since 2018. A regular media contributor, Pétrin-Desrosiers has been recognized in 2021 as one of the 100 most influential women in Canada by the Women’s Executive Network. Additionally, she was awarded the 'Coup de coeur' prize at the 2022 University of Montreal Rector's Awards in the leadership category for her exceptional contributions to health and environmental advocacy.
