Claudia Cea is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Yale Engineering. She received her Ph.D. from Columbia University, and holds a Master’s degree from San Diego State University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pisa. Her research interests focus on developing soft, multifunctional devices that interface with the nervous system, aiming to enable precise and long-term interrogation and modulation of neural activity. The Cea Group is dedicated to creating conformable, high-resolution neural interfaces that incorporate electrical, optical, and chemical modalities for minimally invasive access to central and peripheral circuits. By combining bioelectronics, materials science, and neuroscience, Professor Cea seeks to uncover fundamental mechanisms of neural function and brain-body communication, translating these insights into new therapeutic strategies for neurological, psychiatric, and systemic disorders.
