Dr. Claudia Leopold

Biography

Claudia S. Leopold is a distinguished professor at the University of Hamburg, where she leads the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology within the Faculty of Chemistry. She completed her pharmacy studies at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and pursued her doctoral research focused on the enhancer effects of lipophilic ointment bases on the transdermal penetration of methyl nicotinate. Leopold's academic path includes research visits at Stanford Research Institute and the University of California, San Francisco. She has held numerous significant positions, including a professorship at Leipzig University and leading roles at the University of Hamburg, where she has also served as the managing director of the Institute of Pharmacy and Vice President for Research and Early Career Support. Her research predominantly centers on optimizing tablet manufacturing processes, characterizing excipient suitability, and enhancing drug solubility through innovative methods. She has been actively involved in the academic governance and development of forward-thinking pharmaceutical education.
