Biography

Claudia Moatti specializes in the study of Roman History, Roman Administration, and Human Mobility. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at USC Gould School of Law and has had a joint appointment at the Department of History at Université Paris 8 since 2011. Moatti has held various academic positions, including Professor of Practice in the Department of Classics at USC from 2007 to 2011 and has also served as an Associate Professor of Ancient History at the University of Paris 1. Since becoming a full professor at USC in 2004, she has made significant contributions to law education, including guest lecturing on the course titled 'Slavery Law in Ancient and Modern Times'. Moatti is actively engaged in research, currently working on four books related to Roman political categories and their translation into English. She is a member of several academic organizations and serves on the Editorial Board for Social Education History in Barcelona. Her extensive travels and presentations in various countries reflect her commitment to scholarly discourse in her fields of expertise.
