Biography

Professor Cuello trained at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA, Argentina), University of California, San Francisco (USA), and Cambridge University (England). He has held research positions in the Department of Cell Biology at UBA and in the Department of Pharmacology at both Cambridge and Oxford. Previously, he served as Chair of the McGill Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics and currently holds the Charles E. Frosst Merck Chair in the department. He is also an Associate Member of the Departments of Anatomy, Cell Biology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery at McGill University and an adjunct Professor at the Scripps Institute (La Jolla). His research focuses on degenerative and regenerative processes in the central nervous system, particularly in relation to aging and Alzheimer's disease. His lab utilizes and develops transgenic animal models that exhibit features of Alzheimer's neuropathology, employing a multidisciplinary approach that ranges from molecular techniques to whole animal experimentation in the context of Alzheimer's therapeutics.
