Biography

Dr. Claudio Soares is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Queen’s University, School of Medicine in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He is the Executive Lead and M-Health Research Lead of the Canadian Biomarker Integration Network in Depression (CAN-BIND). With a medical degree and Ph.D. focusing on the effects of estrogen in managing depression in midlife women, Dr. Soares also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Reproductive Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Previously an Assistant Professor and Director of the Research Perinatal Psychiatry Program at McMaster University, he joined Queen’s University in 2016. His research interests comprise effective treatments for mood disorders throughout the female life cycle, especially during the menopausal transition. He has focused on utilizing mobile health technologies (M-Health) and digital phenotyping to enhance understanding of sustained wellness and resilience in the face of relapse in depression. Dr. Soares is a sought-after educator, with over 170 presentations at national and international meetings and has authored more than 180 publications in reputable journals. He is an active member of the Board of Trustees of the North American Menopause Society, and his work has been cited over 8,400 times, with a current h-index of 50 as of January 2021.
