Biography

Claudio Visentin specializes in the history of international relations, focusing on the role of travelers in the interactions between different cultures and civilizations. He has specifically analyzed the image of Germany in Italy between unification and the First World War. He earned his PhD in tourism history, with a thesis that reconstructs the birth of organized travel in Italy during the 19th and 20th centuries. He founded the International Commission History Travel Tourism (ICHTT), affiliated with the International Committee of Historical Sciences (ICHS), where he served as Secretary General, and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Tourism History. In recent years, he has expanded his interests to include the formation and development of the tourism image of Canton Ticino. Since 2011, he has been the director of the Bergamo Foundation in history and the Bergamo Historical Museum.
