Professor Dr. Clemens Gühmann

Biography

Clemens Gühmann is a Professor at the Technische Universität Berlin, heading the Chair of Electronic Measurement Diagnostic Technology. His academic career started with a research assistant position in the Institute of Electrical Engineering, focusing on Measurement Technology, from May 1989 to April 1994. He then took on several roles as a development engineer, including positions at Ingenieurgesellschaft Auto und Verkehr and Whirlpool Group. His primary research interests include diagnosis and remaining useful lifetime prediction of mechatronic components, especially bearings and electrical machines. He actively explores data-based and physics-based modeling methods, including machine learning techniques. Gühmann is also involved in teaching courses on electronic measurement technology, measurement data processing, and pattern recognition. His contributions extend to various committees within the university, including serving as the chairman of the Examination Board for the Master's Automotive Systems degree program and other significant roles in faculty governance. He is a member of professional societies like the Elektrotechnischer Verein e.V. and has participated in academic self-governance, promoting innovation in electrical engineering and computer science education.
