Biography

Clement Bataille received his MSc in environmental engineering in 2008 from the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, France, and obtained his PhD in Geology in 2014 from the University of Utah. He spent several years in Houston, Texas, working as a geoscientist before returning to academia to take a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. In the fall of 2017, he joined the University of Ottawa as an assistant professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. His research group, the SAIVE group (Spatio-temporal Analytics of Isotope Variations in the Environment), focuses on developing geolocation tools for ecology and forensics, investigating weathering processes in rivers, and reconstructing paleoenvironments during greenhouse periods.
