Biography

Cody J Wenthur, PharmD/PhD, is an Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Wisconsin Opioid Overdose Response Center at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research focuses on elucidating the interactions between monoaminergic and glutamatergic signaling systems and their contributions to maladaptive learning and synaptic plasticity in the context of substance use disorders and major depressive disorders. Wenthur is committed to the development of novel bioconjugates and antibodies to investigate the effects of psychoactive substances including synthetic cannabinoids, opioids, ketamine, and classical psychedelics. Additionally, he identifies immunologic biomarkers associated with ongoing drug use and vaccine responses and assesses the barriers to the implementation of innovative addiction treatment paradigms such as vaccine-based approaches and medication-assisted psychotherapy. Wenthur's work reflects his dedication to advancing knowledge in the field of pharmacology and addressing critical issues related to substance use and addiction treatment.
