Dr. Colette Ridehalgh

Biography

Colette Ridehalgh began her career as a Physiotherapist specializing in musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, working in various hospitals in London including University College London Hospitals, St Mary’s Hospital, and Chelsea Westminster hospitals. She completed her MSc in Manipulative Physiotherapy at the University of Brighton and later worked in local NHS and private practices before being employed as a Senior Lecturer in MSK Physiotherapy at the University of Brighton. Her research interests focus on nerve-related MSK pain, particularly radiculopathy. Colette started her PhD exploring the Straight Leg Raise treatment in individuals with spinally referred leg pain and completed it in 2014. Afterward, she became a Course Leader for the MSc Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy course and has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students. Colette is currently a Senior Research Fellow at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, working on a project funded by Versus Arthritis that investigates nerve inflammation in individuals with whiplash injury, while maintaining a part-time position at the University of Brighton. She has received multiple grants to support her research, facilitating feasibility studies on spinal pain management. Colette also actively collaborates with other institutions, enhancing multidisciplinary approaches in her field.
