Dr. Colin Burrow

Biography

Colin Burrow is a Senior Research Fellow at Souls College and a professor in the Faculty of English at the University of Oxford. He specializes in Renaissance literature, with a particular focus on Early Tudor literature, Shakespeare, Ben Jonson, and the influence of classical literatures. He has authored and edited various works related to the literature of the period from 1500 to 1700, contributing to publications such as The London Review of Books. Burrow has edited non-dramatic works of Ben Jonson and is engaged in projects digitizing early modern commonplace books through the Scriptorium initiative. His research interests also extend to the study of imitation across western literary critical traditions from Plato to the present day. Additionally, he supervises graduate students on a diverse range of topics, including early Tudor poetry and the reception of classical literature in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
