Colin Gilmore is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba, where he holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Applied Electromagnetic Inversion. His research focuses on the application of electromagnetic waves to reveal obscured objects, utilizing complex antenna systems to measure electromagnetic responses and create inversion images. Dr. Gilmore's specialty lies in the design and implementation of entire inversion systems, including antennas, sources, measurement devices, and calibration, supported by computational electromagnetic models and inversion algorithms. His work has applications in biomedical imaging for cancer detection, geophysical imaging, and the inspection of grain storage bins. Before joining the University of Manitoba, Dr. Gilmore was the Chief Technology Officer at 151 Research Inc., a successful company he co-founded that focused on electromagnetic imaging. He has received the Gold Medal in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba and various other research awards, including from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and the International Union of Radio Science. Dr. Gilmore is currently seeking graduate students for research opportunities.
