Biography

Colin Grey joined the Faculty of Law at Queen’s University in 2019 as an Associate Professor. He specializes in immigration law, refugee law, and administrative law, while also teaching courses in legal theory, international migration law, and interdisciplinary methods for doctoral students. Prior to his position at Queen’s Law, Professor Grey spent four years at Université du Québec à Montréal and four years working as legal counsel for the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. He also clerked for the Ontario Court of Appeal. Professor Grey earned his LLB from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where he graduated as a Silver Medallist and received the Dean’s Key. He holds an LLM and a JSD from New York University, where he was an Arthur T. Vanderbilt Scholar. His academic work focuses on public law theory and the governance of migration law, with publications that include "Justice Authority Immigration Law" (Hart Publishing, 2015) and articles in notable journals. He has co-edited a casebook on Canadian immigration and refugee law and co-authored a key text in the field. His recent professional achievements include co-editing a special issue of the Dalhousie Law Journal on Canadian Immigration Law and leading the organization of the Conference of Canadian Immigration Law Scholars in 2018.
