Biography

Colin Jones is an associate professor in the area of optimal control at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, where he has been working since 2017. He received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics from the University of British Columbia, followed by a Ph.D. in control theory from the University of Cambridge. His research has focused on polyhedral computational methods and constrained control. In addition to his research, Colin serves as the director of the Robotics, Control, and Intelligent Systems doctoral program at EPFL. He has published over 200 papers and has been recognized for his contributions to optimal control and building networks, including receiving an ERC Starting Grant. His current research interests cover high-speed predictive control, optimization, and the control of green energy generation, distribution, and management.
