Dr. Colin Mayer

Biography

Colin Mayer is an Emeritus Professor of Management Studies at the Saïd Business School and the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford. He is an Emeritus Fellow of Wadham College and has also served as an Honorary Fellow at both Oriel College and St Anne’s College. Mayer is a Fellow of the British Academy and a member of various prestigious organizations, including the Centre for Economic Policy Research and the European Corporate Governance Institute. Notably, he chaired the Scottish Government Business Purpose Commission and has been a trustee on several boards, including the Oxford Playhouse and the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal. He has an extensive academic background, having been a Harkness Fellow at Harvard University among other visiting positions at institutions like Columbia, MIT, and Stanford. Over the years, Mayer has played pivotal roles, including serving as the Peter Moores Dean of the Business School from 2006 to 2011 and directing the Oxford Financial Research Centre from 1998 to 2005. His research primarily explores areas of corporate finance, governance, and the regulations and taxation surrounding corporations in contemporary society.
