Dr. Colin Porlezza

Biography

Colin Porlezza is an Associate Professor of Digital Journalism and the Head of the Institute of Media and Journalism (IMeG) at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). He also holds an Honorary Senior Research Fellow position at the Department of Journalism at City, University of London. Porlezza serves as the director of the European Journalism Observatory (EJO) and is a board member of the Swiss Association Media Communication Research, where he chairs the Journalism Section. His research interests primarily focus on digital journalism, including areas like automated journalism and media accountability. He has contributed to significant projects such as the Knight News Innovation Fellowship and the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme. His work has led to over 50 peer-reviewed publications across various media and academic platforms. Porlezza's expertise is regularly sought after in conferences and workshops internationally, highlighting his role as a leading researcher in the field of journalism studies. He has been involved in several funded research projects that investigate the impact of digital media technologies on journalistic practices and ethics, receiving funding from entities like the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM).
