Biography

Colleen Maxwell is a Professor in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo. Her primary research interests are in Pharmacoepidemiology and Aging, with a particular focus on Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, depression, and health services outcomes research. She is involved in both national and international research efforts examining health quality care needs of older residents in Assisted Living and Long Term Care settings. Maxwell’s work includes evaluation outcomes in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice, with a strong emphasis on scholarly research in these domains. She has obtained several academic qualifications including a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Élisabeth-Bruyère Health Centre and the University of Ottawa, a PhD in Health Studies, an MA in Gerontology, and a BSc in Health Studies, all from the University of Waterloo. Throughout her career, she has received multiple awards for excellence in research and performance and has actively served on various health-related committees and boards, including the Canadian Chronic Disease Surveillance System (CCDSS-NC) Working Group and the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).
