Biography

Conghui Yao is an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago in the Department of Radiation and Cellular Oncology. His laboratory aims to elucidate metabolic regulation in diseases such as cancer and obesity. Utilizing a cross-disciplinary platform that integrates analytical, biochemical, cell biological, and organismal approaches, his research studies immune cell metabolism and cancer metabolism. The goals of his lab include identifying new mechanisms that regulate immune cell metabolism and the anti-tumor immune response, discovering novel metabolic vulnerabilities in cancer cells, and exploring tumor-immune crosstalk. To achieve these objectives, his laboratory employs cutting-edge mass spectrometry-based metabolomics, advanced data analysis, mitochondrial biochemistry, and stable isotope tracing in vivo, along with genetic tools to identify novel metabolic nodes relevant to cancer and anti-tumor immunity.
