Dr. Connie Schumacher is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing at Brock University with over 20 years of clinical experience in Cardiac Care and Emergency services, as well as 5 years in Community nursing. She completed a 3-year post-doctoral appointment at McMaster University focusing on Health Research Methods and Evidence Impact. Dr. Schumacher has been a clinical lead on the DIVERT-CARE trial and has collaborated on projects using interRAI home care ICES data. Her research interests include chronic illness management, caregiver education, qualitative methods, and Indigenous research methods. She serves as Associate Editor for the Canadian Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing and is the Provincial Director for the Ontario Registered Nurses Association's Nursing Research Interest Group. Dr. Schumacher is dedicated to training prospective students in areas related to Alzheimer’s type dementias and is interested in engaging students who have a passion for working with older adults and researching chronic illness management.
