Biography

Connie Ulrich holds the position of Lillian S. Brunner Chair in Medical Surgical Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is a Professor in the School of Nursing and has a secondary appointment in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the Perelman School of Medicine. She serves as the Associate Director of the NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health and was the Graduate Group Director for PhD Studies at the School of Nursing from 2014 to 2016. Ulrich earned her PhD with a focus on nursing ethics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, in addition to master's and bachelor's degrees from the Catholic University of America. Her expertise is further demonstrated through her role as the Lead Co-Chair for the Bioethics Expert Panel of the American Academy of Nursing, a position she has held since its reestablishment in 2013. She also serves on Data Safety Monitoring Boards appointed by the National Institutes of Health. As an accomplished editor, Ulrich contributes to Nursing Ethics in Everyday Practice, published by Sigma Theta Tau International. Her teaching responsibilities include bioethics for second-degree nursing students and collaboration with colleagues in the School of Medicine, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary education and research.
