Biography

Connor Keating is a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Experimental Psychology, with a focus on Autism, Emotion, and Social Cognition. His research interests span several areas, including the development of mechanistic models of emotion processing across different individuals, particularly comparing autistic and non-autistic people. He aims to investigate the links through causal manipulation and longitudinal designs to enhance understanding of the mechanisms underlying emotion recognition challenges. Additionally, Keating has worked on identifying movement-based indicators of autism, systematically comparing the facial and bodily movements of autistic and non-autistic individuals. This research contributes to the development of digital tools to examine movements in children, potentially improving autism screening methods over the long term. In 2020, he co-founded a network for autistic and non-autistic researchers across 12 countries that addresses diversity, equity, and inclusion in autism research, ensuring that future research is beneficial and tailored to the needs of diverse autism communities.
