Biography

Connor Kerns is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. He obtained his PhD from Temple University in 2013. His research spans a broad array of topics, including the role of paternal age in the likelihood of autism spectrum disorder, co-occurring childhood psychopathologies, and differential predictors of cognitive behavioral therapy efficacy in treating child anxiety. Currently, his work focuses on understanding the phenomenology of anxiety in autistic youth and young adults, particularly the impacts of traumatic experiences and the development of novel measures for assessing stress and PTSD. Kerns is dedicated to exploring the cognitive mechanisms and social-emotional processing involved in coping with stressors faced by autistic individuals. His teaching and research interests include the assessment and treatment of childhood anxiety and stress-related disorders, particularly in the context of autism spectrum disorders.
