Dr. Constantine Caramanis

Biography

Constantine Caramanis holds the Chandra Family Endowed Distinguished Professorship in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, a position he has held since Fall 2006. He earned an A.B. in Mathematics from Harvard University and both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interests are focused on decision-making in large-scale complex systems, with specific attention on learning and computation. He explores robust and adaptable optimization techniques, high-dimensional statistics, and machine learning, particularly in the context of large-scale networks such as social, wireless, transportation, and energy networks. Caramanis also engages in the applications of machine learning and optimization in computer-aided design.
