Dr. Constantine Caramanis

Biography

Constantine Caramanis is a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, where he holds the Chandra Family Endowed Distinguished Professorship. He obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Harvard University. His research interests primarily focus on autonomous decision-making in large-scale complex systems, robust and adaptable optimization, high-dimensional statistics, machine learning, and reinforcement learning agents, with applications across various domains, including social, wireless, transportation, energy, and financial networks. He has received notable awards, such as the NSF CAREER Award in 2011 and is an IEEE Fellow. Additionally, he is affiliated with the NSF Institute Foundation for Machine Learning and leads a Machine Learning Lab, contributing significantly to the advancement of this field.
