Corbin Wagner is a highly regarded horn performer and teacher, and a longtime member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He is currently an Associate Professor of Horn at Michigan State University. Born in Kansas City, Wagner received his bachelor’s degree in 1979 from the University of Michigan, studying under Professor Louis Stout. He became a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra after graduation, retiring in 2013. In 1989, he earned a master’s degree from the University of Michigan and became an associate professor at the Michigan State University College of Music in 2012, having previously served as an adjunct horn professor at Oakland University, the University of Michigan, and Wayne State University. Wagner has received prestigious performing honors including a prize in the 1983 Munich International Horn Competition and accolades in the Heldenleben International Horn Competition and the International Horn Competition of America. He has performed as a soloist in various venues and participated in multiple horn workshops. An experienced clinician, he has given clinics across the country and has actively expanded his repertoire through group commissions. Wagner is a 30-year member of the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings and regularly performs with the Palm Beach Opera, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He enjoys a richly blessed family life with his wife, Wendy, and their five grown children.
