Biography

Cordelia Warr is a Professor of Medieval and Renaissance Art at the University of Manchester. She studied Fine Art at Newcastle University and History of Art at Nottingham University, ultimately completing her Ph.D. on 'Female Patronage and Female Spirituality in Italian Art of the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Centuries' at the University of Warwick in 1994. She has published extensively on themes of patronage, symbolic meanings of dress, and the liminal nature of garments in Renaissance Italy. Cordelia co-edited a significant volume on wounds and is involved in multiple projects that highlight research in early modern collections. Her work has been presented at various conferences, and her commitment to academic supervision has guided several PhD students through significant art history research.
