Corey Adams is an adult cardiac surgeon whose practice primarily focuses on valvular heart surgery at the Foothills Medical Centre. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and an active member of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society of Cardiac Surgeons. Dr. Adams has a special interest in minimally invasive valve surgeries, managing infective endocarditis, and performing transcatheter aortic valve implantation. He completed his undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University, a master’s degree at the University of Calgary, and medical doctorate at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His residency training in cardiac surgery was completed in London, Ontario, Canada, followed by an additional year of fellowship in Advanced Management of Valvular Heart Disease at the Bristol Heart Institute, England. Before returning to start his adult cardiac surgery practice in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, he worked as a cardiac surgeon in Bristol. Dr. Adams has contributed to the development of the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation program at the Health Sciences Centre and has performed humanitarian cardiac surgery missions in South America, while continuing to mentor graduate-level students. He became a Clinical Associate Professor in the Libin Cardiovascular Institute in April 2020, working within the Minimally Invasive Surgery Program and the Structural Heart Program.
